Doctors diagnose and treat illness, perform procedures and lead clinical teams. In Nepal they work in government, private and teaching hospitals, clinics, NGOs and public health programmes. On Alwass, hospital employers list physicians, specialists, surgeons and radiologists.
How doctors qualify in Nepal
MBBS. The basic medical degree, including a compulsory internship. Entrance is through the Medical Education Commission.
Licence. Every doctor must pass the Nepal Medical Council licensing exam and register before practising.
Specialisation. MD or MS postgraduate training, also through a competitive entrance, leads to specialist and surgeon posts.

Medical officer. A general doctor in a ward, emergency or OPD, usually the first job after licensing.
