Nurses care for patients around the clock: giving medicines, watching for changes, supporting doctors and comforting families. Hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, health posts and schools across Nepal hire nurses, and Nepali nurses are recruited abroad too.
The nursing qualifications in Nepal
ANM (Auxiliary Nurse Midwife). A shorter course, mostly for community health and maternity care.
PCL Nursing. A three-year diploma, the most common route to staff nurse jobs.
BSc Nursing. A four-year degree after +2 science.
BNS (Bachelor of Nursing Science). A degree for nurses who already hold a PCL.
Whichever route you take, you must register with the Nepal Nursing Council and pass its licensing exam before you can work as a nurse.
