Medical imaging lets doctors see inside the body. Two very different professionals work in it. Radiographers (also called radiology technicians or technologists) operate the X-ray, CT and MRI machines. Radiologists are doctors who read the images and write the report. Hospitals and diagnostic centres across Nepal hire both.
How each qualifies
Radiographer. A diploma or bachelor's in radiography or medical imaging technology, then registration with the Nepal Health Professional Council.
Radiologist. An MBBS, then an MD in radiology, and registration with the Nepal Medical Council as a specialist.
What does a radiographer do?
Positions patients correctly and takes clear images.
