How to write a CV for remote jobs
What remote employers look for in a CV, and exactly what to change: headline, remote experience, written communication, tools, setup and proof of results.

A CV for a remote job has the same parts as any CV, but the employer reads it with one extra question in mind: can this person deliver without anyone watching? Everything you change should answer that question.
1. Say "remote" in your headline
Your headline is the first line an employer reads. Make it specific and add your working style:
"Frontend developer, React, 3 years, remote"
"Bookkeeper, Tally and QuickBooks, open to remote"
"Customer support, English and Nepali, remote-ready"
2. Show remote experience, even small amounts
Any work you did without a supervisor nearby counts:
Freelance projects delivered online.
A college project done with teammates in other places.
Remote internships, online volunteering, or tutoring done over video.
Write "(remote)" next to those roles so they stand out.
3. Prove results, not duties
Remote managers judge output. Replace duties with results:
Instead of "Handled customer queries", write how many you handled and how customers rated you, if you have those figures.
Instead of "Made social media posts", write how the page grew while you ran it.
Use only numbers you can back up.
4. List the tools you use
Name the tools that remote teams rely on: Google Workspace or Microsoft 365, Slack or Teams, Zoom or Meet, Trello, Asana or Jira, plus the tools of your trade.
5. Add your setup in one line
"Remote setup: fibre internet with mobile backup, UPS, quiet workspace." It removes a doubt in one sentence. See setting up for remote work.
6. Link to your work
A portfolio, GitHub, published articles or a live website. Remote employers often decide from the link alone.
7. Keep it clean
One or two pages, a PDF, clear headings, no photos of certificates. Your CV is itself a sample of your written communication.
Build it once
In the free CV maker you can upload your old CV and AI fills in your profile, then add your remote headline and tools and download a clean PDF. Employers who find your profile read the same information.
